Evening Out Makeup Routine

Getting ready to go out is one of my favorite activities- yes, I consider it an activity. I absolutely LOVE experimenting with products and discovering new things. Doing makeup does not have to be a complicated, scary ordeal. I have definitely added to my routine as I’ve learned more about beauty and experimented with different shades and colors. While I probably use more products than most people, I will highlight the essentials that you need to get that evening glow.

Most people start out on their eyes, but I’ve gotten in the habit of completing my face first. You can achieve this look either way. However, it’s important to start out with a clean slate- wash your face and moisturize before applying any product!

First things first: FACE

Step 1: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS start with a primer. This is KEY to a long-lasting makeup look. I have tried a plethora of primers and think the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is by far the best! It comes out as a soft, silky, cloud-like texture so there’s no grease or shine to it. It smooths evenly into the skin and acts as an excellent base for your foundation to stick to. The best part about it is that it’s vegan and oil-free, so it works on ALL skin types and helps to conceal redness.

Step 2: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

I really want to emphasize this product; it’ is iconic for a reason. I have been using Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk for over a year now, and I don’t think I will ever stray! It’ is extremely lightweight, leaving you with a natural look. You can apply as many layers as needed but it doesn’t ever build up or get “cakey.” It comes in 30 shades and works well with a liquid bronze if you ever need to slightly alter the coloring.

Step 3: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

This concealer is full coverage, anti-aging, and waterproof. It really gets the job done when it comes to concealing dark circles and brightening the under-eye area. This concealer never creases or cracks. Regardless of the makeup look you are going for, concealer is a great product to throw on to hide your tiredness. It’s important to keep in mind a little goes a long way with concealer.

Step 4: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Compact

This compact powder goes hand-in-hand with the Luminous Silk Foundation. I apply the powder with a large brush all over my face to help set the foundation and concealer. It creates a semi matte, natural finish. It works on all skin types: normal, combination, or oily. It hides blemishes extremely well and gives your skin a smooth texture. I also love tossing it on by itself if I’m ever in a rush.

Step 5: Fenty Beauty Bronze Match Stick

Contouring is the most FUN part! I love the ease and precision the Fenty Beauty Bronze Match Stick creates for a perfect contour. I use the Mocha Cool shade, but there are plenty of bronze colors that work to create a contour best-suited to your skin tone. I apply the stick along my hairline, my cheekbones, my jawline, and nose, and then blend using a beautyblender. Pro-tip: wet the beautyblender or spray it with a little setting spray before blending the bronze into your skin. This creates a less harsh, longer-lasting contour.

Step 6: Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder

After I’ve applied and blended the contour stick, I take a contour brush and further blend the bronze, applying this Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder on top. I use shade 03, but again, you can totally switch it up depending on your skin tone. This bronzer creates a natural, glowy warmth that is super lightweight and smooth. It has no shimmer or shine, so it really melds well with your skin. I’ve been using this product for years- it’s probably the oldest product in my collection.

Step 7: YSL Couture Blush

I recently tried out this blush and loved its subtlety. I wear #5- Nude Blouse. It adds a natural, rosy cheek, but it’s less on the pink-side and more on the nude-side. I love the glow it brings to my cheeks. It blends very well with the bronze contour and doesn’t look too forced.

Step 9: Pixi Beauty Book of Beauty- Minimal Makeup (Highlighter)

I don’t love when my highlighter is super-duper noticeable, so I definitely go for a subtle shimmer. I use the top left shade in this palette above my cheek bones and lightly on my T-zone (the center of my forehead, the tip of my nose, my cupid’s bow, and the center of my chin). I love this highlighter for an evening look because it enhances and brightens the face even as it gets dark outside.

Step 10: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer & Glossier Boy Brow

My brows are a 2-part process. First, I fill them in with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer pencil. I love this version of the pencil because it has a thicker tip that is great for detailing and defining. I think this tip allows for a more natural finish because you can shade and shape in fewer strokes. First, I take the spoolie side and brush out my eyebrows, then I go to work with the defining side.Next, I use the Glossier Boy Brow to fluff and groom my brows, adding all finishing touches. I love how this product not only holds the hairs in place, but also adds pigmentation. You can also toss on this product when you’re on the go and it will volumize your brows.

Second up: EYES

Step 1: Sephora Collection Beauty Amplifier Eye Shadow Primer

Again, primer is KEY! I’ve been using this Sephora Collection Eye Shadow Primer for years. It really holds my eyeshadow in place and helps it last for hours on end.

Step 2: Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette

I just purchased this palette and am blown away by how well the colors show, blend, and hold. The Eye-Conic palette comes in a variety of color selections. It’s a great combo of neutrals, shimmers, and pops of color.

Step 3: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

This Stila eyeliner goes on so smoothly and evenly! I love how precise it is with the felt tip. While it comes in a bunch of colors, my personal FAVE is the Intense Black for a dramatic nighttime look. I use this on top of my lid only; It helps make your eye color and eyeshadow pop!

Step 4:  Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner

I love to use this Sephora Collection eyeliner on my waterline, on both my bottom and top lashes. It’s a pencil liner and it’s super easy to apply- it glides right on. It also doesn’t budge or smudge. Again, I use the Black color to get an enhanced, dramatic nighttime look. However, playing with these colors is super fun for any look!

Step 5: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Screen Shot 2019-10-06 at 4.45.51 PM

This mascara is NOT overrated in my opinion! It’s a best seller for a reason. It thickens and lengthens lashes, it’s waterproof, and it holds extremely well. It creates TONS of volume and the brush’s hourglass shape allows you to coat every lash.

Finishing Touches: Set It All In

Step 1: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

This powder creates a matte finish and sets your makeup for 12 hours without adding any weight or texture. I apply the translucent setting powder with a beautyblender under my eyes and beneath my cheekbone contour. I let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then I blend it into my skin with a brush. It’s oil-free, dermatologically-tested, and non-caking.

Step 2: Morphe Continuous Setting Mist

Screen Shot 2019-10-06 at 4.49.21 PM

I finish it all off with a couple sprays of this Morphe setting mist. Hold the bottle about 8 inches away from your face, close your eyes, and apply the mist. It resists the makeup from melting off or fading away. I love how lightweight and airy this mist is.

I hope you guys learned something new from this lengthy makeup guide! It obviously takes TONS of practice to learn what works best for you and your skin, so while I love these products, they may not be best for everyone. The most important thing is to have fun with it ☺
